Chemical engineering faculty receive college awards
Three chemical engineering faculty were recognized for their dedication to support the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering's teaching, research, service and outreach programs at fall convocation.
Engineering Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
Ryan R. Hansen
Since Hansen’s arrival in 2015, he has consistently been one of the most highly regarded professors among the chemical engineering undergraduate student base. He is a regular instructor for transport phenomena, a subject that many undergraduates view as difficult and often dislike. Through his enthusiasm for the subject, creative teaching methods and effective student engagement, he has consistently provided pathways for student success. Hansen’s excellence in teaching is evidenced by his recent TEVAL ratings, which rank among the top of the chemical engineering faculty.
Outstanding Assistant Professor Award
Davood B. Pourkargar
Pourkargar is successfully building a strong versatile multidisciplinary research program at the intersection of process systems engineering and artificial intelligence with applications in chemical, agricultural, biological and food processing systems. He has expanded his theoretical/computational lab by adding robotic additive manufacturing and autonomous biomanufacturing experiments.
Engineering Team Awards of Excellence
Andrew M. Duncan
Duncan was part of the course and curriculum team that prepared the new curricula to meet the new K-State Core requirements. This monumental effort coincided with the college’s ABET accreditation visit, further highlighting the dedication and resilience of the committee members.
